Would you like to control your life, rather than your life controlling you? 


Our Life mOt is an opportunity to explore yourself.  It is carried out over two hours with a qualified, highly experienced counsellor with more than 7 years experience, when you will explore and talk about all the different aspects of your life that is important to you.  For many this will encompass their mental health,  career, relationships, self respect, friendships hobbies and/or financial, indeed everything that can have an affect on our overall happiness, autonomy and self evolvement.

Mental health


We all have mental health, like physical health, it can change as we go through life.  During your Life mOt you will explore how you feel and experience life in order that you can assess your mental health.  It is not uncommon for a client to be unaware they actually have an anxiety, for instance social or health, and during the session be given some help to equip them when they experience this. 



Relationships


During your Life mOt we will explore how you feel regarding your relationships, whether intimate, family or friends.  How we are in our relationships is affected by our experience growing up and our self concept, this can determine our relationship style for instance some people validate others and their feelings but compromise their own.  Some can become defensive and find any form of judgement difficult and for some others they may be avoiders finding themselves going along with things because they find it hard to express their needs or feelings.  If you decide you would like to evolve the counsellor will help you.



Career


You will have an opportunity to talk about your work/career and how content you feel.  It is so easy to find ourselves doing a job we just are not happy with through fear of finding another.  Sometimes we are unaware of what we want to do with the rest of our life or how to go about changing it.   During the session you will explore the blocks stopping you, and a path to change if that's what you decide you would like.



Hobbies


Having 'me' time is so important and actually an asset to a relationship, it creates an inter-dependence which is so healthy.  Some people prefer solitary time, for instance hill walking, rambling, crafting etc., while others prefer being in a team with the social aspect.   When we spend time doing something we enjoy the happy chemicals in the brain are released and our mental health is improved.   Some clients have become so much a parent, partner, son/daughter,  that they feel guilty having 'me' time,  yet the impact a hobby or me time can make on these very relationships can be so positive and brings balance to their life.
